LAKEWOOD COLORADO REAL ESTATE MARKET UPDATE:
The market in the Denver and the suburbs remained relatively unchanged in October, with the exception that the inventory is continuing to shrink and was just reported to be around 31.9% less than this time last year and a 4.5% decrease over September 2012. Denver ranked 24th on the list of most searched MLS markets according to data released by Realtor.com on November 14, 2012 which shows that there are still many buyers interested in purchasing a home in the metropolitan area. MLS (Metrolist) data shows that single family homes in Jefferson County saw an average month over month increase in October 2012 closed sales of 20.43% vs. closed sales in October of 2011 and an average increase of 26.46% YTD. Condominium properties in Jefferson County saw an average month of month increase of 54.23% and an average increase of 17.08% YTD.
WEST LIGHT RAIL LINE:
The West Light Rail Line continues to make progress as we have had favorable weather conditions allowing the construction to continue at its scheduled pace. The West Light Rail Line has begun the process of commissioning public art for the light rail stations. Interested parties can enter their submissions at the Light Rail website. As of today, the Light Rail West Line is opening in less than six months. This 12.1 mile transit line is the first RTDFasTracks corridor to enter full construction and will serve Denver, Lakewood, Golden and Jefferson County.

The Lakewood Cultural Center has several performances scheduled for all ages during the holiday season from traditional performances such as The Nutcracker ballet to enjoyable music concerts performed by the Denver Concert Band. Don’t forget to view the Lakewood Lights at the Lakewood Heritage Center on November 30, 2012. The official lighting ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm with the Green Mountain High School Shadows of the Mountain Choir performing at 5:45 pm and again following the ceremony. The Heritage Center is located at 801 S. Yarrow Street.

This is a place for community members can provide their comments, ideas and concerns and check back for questions posed from these postings. Residents can also comment on the ideas other community members provide or simply “second” or support the ideas of others.

THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS A TIME OF GIVING: Too often we go through the year without giving back to our community and the Holiday Season is a good time for a reminder to not only be thankful for those we have in our lives and the things we are fortunate for, but also to give our time and resources to those in need. Lakewood Recreation is helping the Police Department collect donations for the Christmas Cheer for Children Program.
