The Parker Recreation Center
Imagine a tiny 8000 sq foot building made from raw concrete blocks. That was the entirety of the Parker Recreation Center as built in 1994. Back then this former stagecoach stop between Denver and Colorado Springs was lazy cow-town with just a few suburban subdivisions. Actually, dry-land farming was more prevalent then then running livestock.
But, local residents needed some kind of recreation facility. Since most of the residential subdivisions were beginning on the north side of town, that’s where the city officials put it. It was built right on Lincoln Avenue near Jordan Road. And, that’s where it still stands.
Now, the new facility was completely renovated and integrated into a brand new building in 2015.
