Hometown Reunion in Commerce City is finally coming of age. As the economy begins to recover and housing permits in the area are on the rise, more and more residents are moving to the Reunion area. All the major home builders are in full building mode in and around Reunion including: DR Horton, Richmond American, Shea, Lennar and KB Homes.
This increase in Reunion home owners has opened the eyes of the business community as they are now looking at Reunion as an area of opportunity. Starting the influx of new business was the opening of the King Soopers Marketplace® at the corner of 104th and Chambers. This facility opened about a year ago and started off a bit slow but has continually increased in volume over time as we see residents from both Brighton and Green Valley Ranch drive past their local grocery stores to shop at this flagship of Reunion. With this increase, other businesses began to pay attention. Taco Bell® recently built its new prototype building directly across the street.
With all the vacant land around the King Soopers, a new McDonald’s® is now under construction and should be open with the next 60 days or so. This is a full sized restaurant complete with its popular PlayPlace for the kids.
Directly behind the McDonalds®, a new Les Schwab Tires® is being built. Les Schwab has now expanded into Colorado from Bend, Oregon and currently has approximately 434 locations throughout Oregon, Montana, Washington, Idaho, California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. They should be opening their doors in the next 60-90 days also.
Less than a mile down the street you will see the expansion of the North Forrest Office buildings. This is the third, freestanding office building in the complex and comes complete with individual offices, private entrances, a reception area and conference rooms. Their other two building are filled with professional businesses, medical and dental offices.
Of course, we can’t forget our friends just north of Reunion in Brighton where they are building another new King Soopers Marketplace® at the NE corner of North 50th Ave & Bridge Street. This facility will be similar to the one in Reunion complete with a Fred Meyer Jewelers®, Starbucks® and a fueling station. This Marketplace plans on hiring 150-170 employees and is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2014.
One thing that is definitely noticeable from the Reunion area is a lack of sit-down dining facilities. However, stay tuned as rumor has is that something, potentially a national brand sit-down restaurant, is coming directly across from the King Soopers on the south side of 104th – grading stakes are up and the area has been surveyed……as soon as I get confirmation as to who it is and when, I will let you know – but I heard the restaurant begins with an “A”. It is wonderful to be a Reunion resident and to see all this activity. I look forward to all the future growth in the area.
It has been nearly a year since the article about the reunion neighborhood has been published. The residence 9f this beautiful part of colorado is still longing for a sit down resturant. We have plenty if fast food joints. We even have three dentist facilities and now two emergency room hybrid places. Why can’t we get a sit down resturant? Every neighbor I talk to really desires one or more at this time. 85 would do really well. Have you heard of anything? I know of a possibility of a native grill and wings?
I’m waiting for a Sprouts or Trader Joe’s something of that nature it would do well in this neck of the woods
