Have you have heard the news? Louisville, Colorado just got ranked by Money Magazine as The Best Small Town in America. Now, it’s taken the top spot 2 of the last 3 yrs. I known I am prejudiced because I live in Louisville but here are some reasons we are ranked so well.
Let’s start with how the Old Town area comes to life in the summertime. The Louisville Street Faire, takes place every Friday evening from roughly
the beginning of June through the middle of August. Big name bands rock the Steinbaugh Pavilion, kids can play in the jump castles, slides, and even a climbing wall. Local food vendors set up shop delivering high quality food for the event, and the increased popularity of the Friday Night Street Faire forced the organizers to add another beer/wine section this year to handle the demand. This is an event that truly reflects the community spirit and family orientation of our small town.
Even when the Faire is not in season, Louisville is a walking town. There are a variety of restaurants and entertainment venues up and down the historic main street. Six months a year, patios are open as strollers check out the boutique shops or just walk-off a good dinner from one of the charming, local eateries.
Other reasons for praise include top performing public schools, job growth, location to the mountains and both Denver/Boulder, and extremely low crime rates. I wrote about these Louisville advantages when we first received the top award from Money Magazine.
Louisville restaurants are a big reason for the increased popularity I feel. Please visit another previous blog post of mine to see how old Louisville automotive shops and post offices have been reborn into hip new restaurants.
Finally, it seems many of the municipalities surrounding Louisville are also interested in how the town has revitalized itself. They’re sending their top economic advisers to our town for some planning ideas they can take back to their own cities. They could only hope for the some of the same results Louisville is currently seeing.
Homes in the Louisville real estate market can go under contract in a matter of days during the summertime. So, now they’re a great time to be looking in Louisville because inventory is climbing again. For the time being Buyers have less competition and competing offers are less likely…..until next Spring that is.
