Gaylord Resort and Convention Center Coming Near DIA

February 18, 2018 By Amy Ryan, COListings Real Estate 2 Comments

Gaylord Resort and Convention CenterReunion, Commerce City, Green Valley Ranch and Thornton will enjoy an new amenity unlike anything previously seen in Denver’s northern suburbs. Gaylord of the Rockies mega-hotel, Conventional Center and resort will employ about 2000 area residents.

More than that, the luxury mega-hotel will offer new dining venues for hotel guests and nearby residents alike. And, Denver International Airport will finally enjoy a landmark, luxury hotel off-site.

This expansive development of a mega-hotel, shops, attractions and state-of-the-art convention facilities is the highly anticipated resort from Marriott International, Inc., and its partners. Following a series of political and funding snafu’s, intense construction of the project has resumed. Now, the complex will open by the end of 2018.

Gaylord of the Rockies Construction

Construction on this enormous complex will help the local job market both temporarily and long-term. Costs may exceed $800 million to complete. and the complex will span across 85 acres, Nearly 10,000 construction workers are being employed to build it. That includes contractors, electrician, plumbers, landscapers, masons, designers, and more.

New employees are already applying and interviewing to work in the nearly 2000 permanent positions. And, Gaylord of the Rockies will boost the local economy considerably with close to a half-million visitors and conventioneers annually.

Existing Local Hotels Will Benefit Too

Gaylord of the Rockies near Denver International Airport

The Gaylord Resort and Convention Center near Denver International Airport will open by year’s end.

Nearly 700,000 group room nights have already been booked. And, plans are being coordinated with  VisitAurora and VisitDenver to make sure area hotels are set up to manage the overflow likely to happen during large conventions at the Gaylord site. A cooperative effort to handle excess tourists and conventioneers will benefit the entire area. Because, those opposed to the project initially argued that the  financial incentives it received posed unfair competition to other hotel.

Over The Top Amenities

The Gaylord of the Rockies multiplex will be anchored by a Colorado-themed Great Room within the hotel.  A sky-high roof reaching upwards of 90 feet, a geyser surrounded by a lake, and even a train caboose will impress visitors and locals alike. From this gathering point, visitors will access all of other attractions and amenities including a spacious retail corridor and marketplace that connects the hotel to the convention center.

The hotel will offer 1,500 rooms and over 100 luxury suites. Of course, Gaylord of the Rockies will boast several restaurants. Nearby residents should also enjoy those amenities.

The convention center itself sprawls over three levels.  And, it will be equipped to support the largest group meetings and conventions imaginable. So,  Gaylord of the Rockies will compete with Downtown Denver and mountain resorts for meetings and conventions.

The grounds of the resort will accommodate the large group events and feature a winding river, walking trails and sprawling landscapes of lush, indigenous flora. Plus,  guests will enjoy tennis and basketball courts, a putting course, a luxurious outdoor pool, and large indoor pool with slides including a pool bar.

This will be the first world-class hotel and resort in Denver’s northern suburbs. Economic activity and employment will be boosted. And, local residents will be able to enjoy true 5 star dining.

The A Train stops at the 61st and Pena Station. That’s about 4.5 miles from the new Gaylord of the Rockies resort.
