Love Living in Louisville, Colorado

March 24, 2015 By Brian MacMillan, Your Castle Real Estate 1 Comment

Historic downtown Louisville, Colorado also offers plenty of options for outdoor activities nearby.

Historic, downtown Louisville also offers plenty of options for outdoor activities nearby.

I’ve personally loved living in Louisville, Colorado now for the past 8 years. When my wife, Samantha, and I chose Louisville, we knew at some point in the near future we wanted to have kids and live in a town that had great public schools.  We also met and lived together in Boulder before we lived in Louisville so staying close to Boulder was another priority.  Clients, especially those relocating to Denver, and friends are always asking me why, as a long time real estate professional, do I personally choose to live in Louisville with my family.

Top 10 Reasons to Live in Louisville, Colorado

Top Ranked Schools: All three of the Louisville Elementary schools are top ranked.

Sense of Community: Local residents love being outside and it’s extremely easy to meet and make new friends in Louisville because of this.

Secure real estate market: Even in the last downturn, the real estate crash of 2008, Louisville real estate prices held steady.  Now, with supply near all time lows, and demand near all time highs, Louisville real estate is very secure from an investment outlook.

Popular Denver Relocation Destination

Louisville Street FaireProximity to both Denver and Boulder: Louisville is about 10-20 minutes to Boulder and 20-30 minutes to Denver, depending on final destinations.  Some folks think of Louisville as the best “Boulder Suburb”. For my profession, working in both Denver and Boulder, it works great.  We also enjoy being close to both large cities; however, in a quite town outside of the hustle and bustle.

Vibrant Downtown Area: Rich in history, Louisville’s Downtown, or otherwise called ‘Old Town’, is the epicenter of town, especially in the summer months.  Every summer there is both a Friday Night Street Faire , as well a Farmers Market on the weekends.

Open space and outdoor activities abound in and near Lousiville, a Denver suburb.

Open space and outdoor activities abound in and near Louisville, Colorado, a Denver suburb popular with relocation home buyers.

Abundant local trails and protected open space: There are over 20 miles of walking and biking trails in Louisville and it’s only a short drive to hike or run in the mountains.

Outdoor Living

Lots of outdoor living residents: I relocated to Colorado in 99′ because of my love for the outdoors.  Louisville has many like minded residents that regularly get out to enjoy the outdoors, through many different uses: local trails for walking/running/biking , tennis, golf, an affordable Recreation Center, skate park, Crossfit Gym and even bocce ball.

Great Local Restaurants: Louisville restaurants used to only have a few options, forcing residents to head to the mecca of Boulder for nights out.  Recently, with the increased demand and popularity, Louisville restaurants have become established and prospered greatly!!

Proximity to Necessities: Several high quality natural grocers are in or near Louisville, including Whole Foods and locally owned Alfalfas.  Several great boutique shops call Louisville home and the residents love to support them!

A LOT Cheaper Than Boulder, and BETTER: Alright, this might be somewhat controversial; however, many residents of Louisville did live in Boulder prior, and wanted a similar feel without the bustle of a big city.  Louisville is extremely popular with Denver relocation buyers moving here from out of state. Money Magazine has ranked Louisville the Best Town in American a few times recently, and second place winner for best place to live in America as well.

    Hi there!

I’m looking to relocate from Austin, Texas. I have family in Arvada and friends in Boulder proper. All that you describe above (in the Louisville post) is appealing. Boulder is a huge draw, but above my current budgetary considerations. I’m looking for a lower cost of living and great schools for my nearly six-year-old daughter. Have I found it in Louisville? Any assistance you can provide would be welcome!

    Kind regards,
    Christia Hoffman
