By Larry Hotz, All Denver Real Estate
Recently I was pleased to have a one-on-one breakfast with Peter Niederman, one of the new owners of The Kentwood Company in the Denver Tech Center and Kentwood Companies in Denver. Peter explained to me the operating philosophy he and his partner, Bill Moore, are bringing and expect to continue to bring to the development of this real estate firm.
“Comments I have been receiving from both other brokers and consumers about our acquisition of The Kentwood Company have all been extremely positive”, he explained as we slurped our “liquidarian” java breakfasts. “Consumers tell me that we have the best advertising and marketing programs in the industry. Other brokers tell me that we have the best agents in the business.”
“Bill and I acquired the Kentwood company to own it as an asset. It is not our intention to flip it or build it up for sale. We are very proud of the tradition and the quality that has become the legacy of this firm. We have no intention of doing anything that would jeopardize that”, said Niederman.
“We have the utmost respect for the for Partners who established this culture of excellence. Roger Campbell, John Fitzpatrick, Jim Nussbaum and John Burns deserve all the credit for building up this incredible company” Peter added. “We are so proud to still be associated with them in this firm.”
Bill Moore had been a long time owner of Moore and Company, one of the largest multi-office real estate firms in the Denver metropolitan area. It had been started by his grandfather and was both a Denver tradition and a family tradition for over 60 years. He sold Moore & Co. to Cendant which immediately change the branding to Coldwell Banker. Bill continued in an executive position for several years with Cendant but ultimately retired. Peter Niederman had also been an executive with Moore and Company and Coldwell Banker.
Mr. Moore has also been very active in local and state Realtor activities. He is a past President of the National Association of Realtors where he was honored for his efforts to support professionalism within the ranks of Realtors.
“We are good real estate company operators. We know how to attract the best real estate brokers and contain unnecessary expenses. That’s why this market doesn’t threaten us. It challenges us. But, ultimately quality prevails”, noted Niederman.
In just the last several months several top agents have joined The Kentwood Companies. Niederman expects their production alone will add over $200 million per year in real estate sales to the firm which last had sales in excess of $1.5 billion in its three offices.
Bill Moore had previously been a partner in the Kentwood Company. When it was announced that the firm had been acquired. My fellow agents and I were somewhat apprehensive about who might have purchased the company. The announcement regarding the new owners was made at an all company meeting held at the GW Marriott Hotel in Cherry Creek last April. When the new owners were announced there was an audible sigh of relief.
He is known as a “true Gentleman” in the industry and the community. Every agent I know in the firm has the utmost respect for him. Most of us were not as familiar with his son and Operating partner, Peter Niederman. So, I particularly enjoyed this opportunity to get to know him better.
It is clear to me these owners will continue the traditions and culture meeting the Kentwood Company renowned throughout Denver and the nation.
