I love golf. I love the game. I love the companionship with family and friends. And, I love the golf courses. In fact, I live on a golf course and I help folks find homes in golf communities. Some of them are luxury homes and some are some are just comfortable suburban homes

In addition to the golf, homes on golf courses offer other amenities such as open space and water features adding to the luxurious ambiance.
While studies show that only 30% of the residents of a golf course development actually claim to play golf; even non-golfers can benefit by enjoying the views and amenities offered by a well-planned golf community.
Golf Community Advantages:
- Well-Manicured Landscaping – Unique incomparable views of rolling fairways and lush greens.
- Sense of Nature – Woods and spectacular water features, great animal and bird habitats.
- Access – Roll out of bed and play golf, or be the last on the course to practice …. play sunset golf. (Live where you Play!) With 300 days of sun, golf in Colorado is a year round event.
- Discounts – On memberships or fees.
- Value – Retains property value (see below).
- Planned Community – Covenant protection.
- Healthy -The mental and health benefits of golf itself, especially if you walk.
- Social – Benefits for both sharing a round and sharing a community, heightened sense of family.
- Business – Do not underestimate golf and ownership of a golf course property for great contacts and successful business deals.
Golf course communities offer many possibilities for non-golf amenities. These can often be more important than the golf course itself.
More than Luxury Real Estate:
- Special events and social gatherings
- Club house, Pro shops – lessons, Learn a new activity
- Restaurants
- Banquet facilities and meeting rooms for parties, special events both social and business
- Swimming Pools
- Fitness Centers
- Spas
- Access to hiking and bike paths
- Tennis
- Clubs – books, cards etc.
- Fishing and boating
Disadvantages of Country Club Living:
Not all options for Country Club living includes these disadvantages. But, these are things a good Realtor will explain on a case-by-case basis.
- Safety – Errant debris (golf balls)
- Noise Pollution – Equipment and golf chatter
- Environmental – However, many golf courses win awards for water conservation and use of organic chemicals.
- Golf course my be off-limits for non-golfing activities during golf hours
In 2007, a study by the Longitudes Group showed that home sites on golf courses have up to a 40% premium over standard home sites in the same community. The same study determined that golf course communities often held their value better than other similar properties. That being said, in the Denver Metro golf community, there are many price points, from affordable budget options to luxury golf course residential properties.

I sold a house that backed up to the 12th box on a Jack Nick designed course in Fort Collins, and having lived there 10 years, I got in only 2 full 18 hole rounds. (I played it more before I lived there and got out more than a few times to hit a few holes). You are absolutely correct about being able to roll out of bed and play, then go back have coffee and breakfast and start your day. I am looking to build another home on a course nearby within the next year or two. I read your post on google and absolutely agree.

Sorry that you weren’t able to take advantage and play a few more rounds . . . . .
Which course in Fort Collins, I have played a few? I am currently building a home at Kechter Farms in Fort Collins.
Are you considering a Fort Collins or a Denver golf residential property?
All the best,
Tom
I think I’ll love to have a luxury golf course home as our family’s vacation home. I really like that once you live in the area you’ll experience better business deals, better community, discounts on memberships, and most especially easy access to golf all day long. That’s perfect for my son and I enjoys golfing together. He’ll surely be surprised when I bring him to our very one golf course home someday. I just need to think of great ideas to reinforce the home from potential debris then. Thanks!
I’m glad you mentioned that golf course homes have up to a 40% premium over standard home sites in the same community. My parents have been thinking about renting out their golf course home but didn’t know if they’d get the return they want. After reading this, I’m positive they will. Thanks for the information-I’ll be sure to pass it along to them!
I hadn’t really thought about the advantages that living in a home on a golf course could offer. However, if you get all the advantages of the golf community as well then that would definitely be worth it. After all, you’d get access to great landscaping, a protected community, and a lot of social benefits as well.
I never took into account that having a golf course could provide you with privacy because of the vast space between you and your neighbors. My uncle loves golfing and has a lot of money. He’s going to retire soon, so I think he may benefit from owning a golf course.
My parents are planning on retiring soon and they are thinking of purchasing a home on a golf course so I am glad that I found this article. The fact that there are discounts on memberships and fees of golfing is a huge benefit for my dad because he is going to want to golf every day if he can! Also, it is interesting that you say there are other benefits like the club house and access to swimming pools and tennis courts. These would be great because my parents want to take the grand kids swimming whenever they can!
I love that you mentioned that investing in a house in a golf community gives you the advantage of waking up to beautiful scenery. My husband has been telling me we should sell our house and move to a gold community. We’re both huge golf fans so it would be could practice our swing every day.
Completely True! Your blog is informative. I loved the way you describe the beauty of the golf range. My family set up a mindset after reading this blog. We sold our house and bought our desired golf home by Ken Grech. He is one of the world’s best realtors in Simi Valley and offered us a good deal on our budget.
