“If you submit a low-ball offer on that Kentwood Listing, they might send a drone after you!”
Drones are scary. What could drones possibly have to do with selling Denver real estate? Well, my real estate company, The Kentwood Company, has just purchased it’s first two drones. They will be used to photograph listings both on the outside and sometimes on the inside. They will also be used to show neighborhoods surrounding listings including amenities such as parks, lakes and traffic. This is a growing trend among real estate companies and individuals across the country. But, as far as we know, The Kentwood Company is the first actual real estate company in Colorado to deploy drones for photography. Tucker Welsh just bought one in Massachusetts. Although we are even hiring a Pilot/Photographer to professionally photograph our listings and the neighborhoods surrounding them. We have been one of the few companies that employ professional photography in our Kentwood marketing tools. But, drones will take that to whole new level.
“This will add a whole new perspective for Buyers looking for homes on-line”, said Peter Niederman, CEO of Kentwood Companies, at the recent All Company Meeting held in Daniels Center at the University of Denver. “As far as we know, we may even be the first real estate company in Colorado to buy drones and hire a professional, Pilot/Photographer”.
Luxury homes will really benefit from this photography. Both still shots of the yards and elevated shots of the fronts will be possible. But, its the videos that could be truly awesome. Imagine interior videos of large homes that smoothly show the flow between large rooms in luxury home listings. For the first time, buyers will be able to feel how a home lives. Staged still photos are great. But, these videos will seamlessly move buyers thorough some of a larger listings.
I am excited that we will be able to better show-off our listings. Our home sellers will have another tool to present their homes in the best way possible. Cost for the photography and videography is all included in the listing commission so sellers will not pay the service directly. What could we use a drone to photography in or around your home? Not every home will need photographs or video from the angles only the drone can achieve. But, for those luxury homes that need those perspectives, our drones will help better market them to prospective buyers. We are not renting our real estate drones. We have purchased two of them for full-time use.
And, please don’t worry. We will never photograph anything without permission. These drones are not for spying. They are for helping Kentwood Company agents sell residential real estate!
That is great utilization of technology. Few years back I contracted an individual who has a high resolution camera mounted on a helicopter to take photos and videos of few properties. Nevertheless, I was very expensive. I just wonder if the drones are capable of flying in the high country yet (above 9500ft.). Thanks for the post,
