Lofts and apartments above retail and restaurants describe the lifestyle in Lower Highlands.
The LoHi neighborhood sits just across the Highland Bridge from Downtown Denver. I-25 is the only thing that runs in-between the local neighborhood of LoHi and Downtown. But, Downtown , The Central Business District and other Denver city neighborhoods seems a world away .
LoHi, also known as Lower Highlands, is one of my favorite places to go out for a cocktail, delicious food, and amazing views of the city and the Rocky Mountains. There are plenty of patios and bars that give diners a full unobstructed view of the skyscrapers of Downtown.
Denver’s Hippest Neighborhood
Hip, youthful, trendy, and vibrant; those are the words I use to describe this fun and wildly popular part of Denver. Not only is this the perfect neighborhood for foodies, there are yoga and barre studios, coffee shops, and boutiques. The LoHi neighborhood in Denver is very walkable and home to many popular restaurants and bars. It is no wonder this location is so desirable among the younger crowds and the young at heart!

When it comes to homes, the LoHi neighborhood consists of a mixture of modern townhomes to more historical duplexes scattered throughout. If you are looking for large lots and spacious yards, you may want to look elsewhere. Here in LoHi, it feel as though the living quarters are expanded upwards instead of sprawling traditional lots you would find in the suburbs. Condos, townhomes, and newly constructed apartment buildings line the streets. Every so often, you will pass by an updated historic single family home. LoHi also has some parks throughout the area, perfect for a walk with your pets!
Lower Highlands Is The LoHi Neighborhood
The LoHi neighborhood is conveniently located right off of I25, close to Speer Boulevard, and is 25 minutes away from DIA. LoHi is also a short walk across the Highland Bridge. This pedestrian walkway will take you over I25 and right to Union Station and Downtown Denver. Other popular spots near LoHi include the Cherry Creek trail, REI Flagship store and even My Brother’s Bar (the oldest bar in Denver)! Living in LoHi is convenient, fun, and the views will never get old.
The energy, views, and the great selection of restaurants and bars keep bringing me back to LoHi. Whether you are looking for a night out, a patio with views, or a new place to call home, the Lower Highlands area of Denver will definitely leave you satisfied.
Be sure to check out one of my favorite spots while exploring the area. El Five, a Spanish Tapas eatery, is an amazing spot for a delicious Apricot Froze and views of the glittering city below.
And, if you are looking for Denver restaurants with warm patio dining due to Covid restrictions, LoHi neighborhood has a great selection. Be sure to check out the video for some hot spots!
Some of my favorite places in the LoHi neighborhood: Linger, El Five tapas restaurant, Maine Shack, and you can forget Avanti and Happy Camper! Little Man Ice Cream is also a must when in the area. The Salted Oreo flavor will be your new favorite, I promise you!
