Aurora is a strong community that has a variety of sources for recreation and entertainment. The Aurora Fox Art Center, Aurora History Museum, and the Aurora Asian Film Festival are among the many cultural activities available to residents. Aurora takes great pride in their trail system, which is great for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. There are 7 award-winning municipal golf courses in the area to satisfy all golf enthusiasts. Consequently, the Aurora Reservoir and the Quincy Reservoir store most of the city’s drinking water and are great spots to enjoy water sports, open space, and the Colorado sunshine.
Aurora is divided into two recognized areas: North Aurora and South Aurora. North Aurora has statistically more crime, rental properties and a lower public school rating. South Aurora tends to be more desirable for living and features planned communities with neighborhood amenities, better school districts, and overall, more upscale living. Piney Creek
First of six neighborhoods, this charming 700 acre, planned community has an Aurora zip code, but is located in Centennial. It is governed by four entities: 1)Piney Creek Metropolitan District coordinates street and storm sewer construction, the 2) Arapahoe Park and Recreation District, the 3) Piney Creek Maintenance Association (for common areas), and the 4) Piney Creek Recreational Association, which operates and maintains the Piney Creek recreational facilities. There are over 1,800 homes and the area is covenant controlled. Residents here have over 60 acres of open space, a “walk-in” Cherry Creek elementary school and retail/commercial development. HOA fees include a swimming pool, club house, tennis courts, ponds, park maintenance, common area lighting, common area fencing and parking. The homes in this area range from $300,000 to $1 million.
Sienna
Sienna is another desirable neighborhood, located in Southern Aurora. In this neighborhood, homes range in price from $400,000 – $1M. This community offers amenities such as a clubhouse, swimming pool, and tennis courts. The terrain drops from East to West, offering some incredible mountain views, especially on the west side backing to open space. Many of these homes are larger, with over 4000 square feet and finished basements.
Saddle Rock
The Saddle Rock Golf Course was chosen by Golf Digest Magazine as the one of the “Best New Affordable Public Courses” in the country. This beautiful course has given way to a new community, offering a variety of residences, commercial retail facilities, a clubhouse, swimming pool, and tennis courts. Homes in this community range up to $1.2M. The Saddle Rock Village Shopping Center is nearby, providing residents of this active community with dining, entertainment, big box retailers, and even a farmer’s market. This area is located at Arapahoe Road and E-470 which grants convenient access to the Denver International Airport, the Denver Tech Center, and the Park Meadows Mall.
Tallyn’s Reach
Tallyn’s Reach is one of the most attractive communities in Southern Aurora. Most of the lavish homes in this area are priced from $500,000 – $1.2M. Also, amenities here include sunken tennis courts, swimming pools, gazebos, playgrounds, and clubhouses. Tallyn’s Reach is just minutes away from a number of popular golf courses. Finally, Tallyn’s Reach is known for its large trail network perfect for walking, biking, and running.
Southshore in Aurora
Lakes are not common in the Denver suburbs. But, Aurora has a lakefront community at Southshore. These homes offer a man-made lake, The Aurora Reservoir. Be prepared to pay $600,000 or more to back to the Aurora Reservoir. Residents will enjoy a planned community with a pool for swimming, parks, tennis, ponds, plus green belts and trails.
Heritage Eagle Bend
This neighborhood is a golf course community for ages 55 and over. Specifically, only one resident must 55 years of age. Also, the private club is open to the public for golf. And, there is a clubhouse for community activities. Homes at Heritage Eagle Bend were built in the 90’s and early 2000’s. They are ranch style homes with main floor master bedrooms in a variety of floor plans. They are priced from$300,000- to $550,000. Below are a few fun facts about Aurora:

Cherry Creek Schools
The Cherry Creek School District is the primary public school district. It serves the communities mentioned above, but also provides some of the highest quality education in the Denver Metro Area. Cherry Creek School District has one of the best reputations around and is recognized for their excellent elementary, middle, and senior high schools. Cherry Creek High School claims a large percentage of the top test scores in Colorado each year, and successfully propels over 93% of its graduates towards a college education. Furthermore, student ACT and SAT scores within this school systems rank well above both Colorado and National averages.
