Just 12 miles Southwest of downtown Denver, Bow Mar borders the City of Littleton. It is one of Denver’s smallest incorporated suburbs. Accordingly, there are only under 1000 residents. However, Bow Mar is located in Arapahoe AND Jefferson counties.
Bow Mar is so small that it’s municipal government consists of one police car and one policeman. Although it is close to the Mile High City, it maintains a small and charming community atmosphere. This suburb was incorporated in 1958 and has grown continually more popular. Many are attracted to the fantastic views of the Colorado foothills, large lots and overall air of exclusivity. After all, the whole occupies just one square mile.

This tiny town offers many private amenities to its residents. The Bow Mar Lake is a popular family spot with a private Yacht club, sand beach, and picnic areas. The lake does allow fishing and sail boats. But, it prohibits motorized crafts. The area also has its own private bird sanctuary, tennis courts, sports facility and walking trails. Guests must always be accompanied by a Bow Mar resident.
The town consists of just over 300 single-family homes. Most lots in this area are about one acre. Many have outstanding mountain and lake views, but be careful, premiums are common. Most homes range from $750,000 – $2,000,000.
Also, this small town is served by Littleton Public Schools. In 2004, five schools in the Littleton Public School district received the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award. Two schools within the system were included in Newsweek’s list of the best schools in America. Student ACT and SAT scores within both school systems rank well above the Colorado or National averages.
