There has been a popular trend around the country to convert former military bases to mixed use residential real estate and retail complexes. Lowry is an example of this new type of “Town Center”, conveniently located in Denver.
This was once a thriving air force base, but now all that is left of that memory are the hangers and the Air Force themes, including an authentic B-52 Bomber and flight museum still located on the property. In addition, the old firehouse now serves as the Denver Free University.
You will find a vital town center with shops, restaurants, and conveniences. Around it is residential development including lofts, town homes, patio homes, single family homes, and even luxury custom homes.

Lowry real estate also has an “affordable housing” component. There are some “market capped” condominiums and even a small number of Denver Housing Authority units for the under privileged. Larry Hotz sat on the advisory committee for affordable housing, and was very pleased that the master plan balances both social and community interests so well.
Lowry is still in the city limits of Denver even though it is about a 20 minute commute to downtown. Still, local residents enjoy the town center, local supermarkets, retail, and recreation, all in the same convenient neighborhood. There“s even a British elementary school nearby for people who prefer a private school.
