Job opportunities in today’s economy can be extremely influential when deciding where to move. One of the largest announcements over the past decade, regarding future job opportunities, was the news that ConocoPhillips bought the land that used to be occupied by both Sun Microsystems and StorageTech. Since the news of this purchase was released in 2009, ConocoPhillips has taken down all the old commercial buildings and has been working with the City of Louisville on their building plans for a state of the art training facility for renewable energy.

Construction is planned to begin in 2011, completion by 2013. At build-out, Conoco Phillips has said they could employ up to 7,000 people at the Louisville, CO location!! Here is an article discussing the story:

Louisville is also know for having over 26 acres of trails within their extensive open space areas. When discussing quality of life, people choose Colorado in general for having over 300 plus days of sunshine, so you might as well live somewhere you can enjoy it! Louisville is only 10 minutes east of Boulder and the extensive trail system in the surrounding foothills, close proximity to over 10 golf courses, has a great recreation/senior center at the center of town, and less than 2 hrs from 10 world class ski resorts.

Louisville’s Historic Old Town Charm

Louisville also has a rich history in mining, which is seen in the “Old Town” section. Old Town has several shops, restaurants, and pubs to keep everyone happy. In the summer months, there is a Louisville Free Concert Series that takes place 7-10 Fridays throughout the summer. This a great attraction for families as there is a kid section filled with jumping castles and other activities, the local restaurants come out to serve food, and other local businesses have booths set up for all to enjoy. Lastly, the bands are top notch and worth the visit alone.
