Erie Gold

Even though Erie is one the most upscale Denver suburbs north of downtown, I still find find many people think it’s just an adjective describing Colorado as somehow “Erie”. Our small town is not at all scary. I am afraid this charming and secret suburb of Denver needs something to put it on the map or at at least put it into people’s consciousness about a great place to live.

Erie, Coloradois home to this Olympian Runner

How about a new Gold Rush? It might help if folks thought of gold when they heard the name Erie instead of a good place for Halloween which it also is. Well, we have found Olympic gold in Erie, Colorado.

Gold Medalist From Erie, Colorado

Gold medalist Constantina Tomescu-Dita returned to Erie after representing her home country of Romania in the Olympics.  Completing the women’s marathon in 2 hours, 26 minutes and 44 seconds.  Arriving with her was fellow Romanian runner, and Boulder resident, Lidia Simon, who finished ninth.

Boulder is home to many world class athletes.  The hills offer great bicycle challanges and, quite honestly, if you can run at altitude, you definitely have an advantage.  The Bolder Boulder is a Memorial staple not only to Colorado residents, but runners everywhere.  We love our outdoor activities and appreciate the mild winters, believe it or not.

For a small community like Erie, having a medalist like Constantina represent us as well as Romania is something that makes us feel very proud. Now, please don’t start another rumor. “Erie is not scary. It’s just a colony of Romania.” That is simply not true. We just like to help Romania with developement of its world class athletes!

    Very tight!

So, do you ever see work out at that new rec center you wrote about: http://www.larryhotz.com/blog/excitment-in-erie/

Do people leave her alone or ask for autographs?

  2. Paula King says:

No, I haven’t seen her, but, prior to the Olympics, I really didn’t know to look for her. My radar is up now. Erie, being a small community, I would expect if anybody asked for an autograph, she would respond positively, but, I don’t see it happening as routine.
