John Ludwig, Downtown Denver
I love real estate. I have been selling houses and condos for 10 years and counting after first getting licensed in 1997,but my experience in the industry might track back to the 1980s as a kid growing up in Denver’s southern suburbs. I learned the trade from my mother, and was eager to help her with brochures, open houses, and maps to properties for special events. After graduating from Cherry Creek High School, I left Colorado to attend Middlebury College in Vermont and returned with degrees in music and geography. After a brief stint at making maps, I obtained my license to sell real estate and was finally “officially” hired as my mother’s assistant at The Devonshire Company.
Back then the market in Denver was very hot - and it wasn’t long before I was able to go out and start selling on my own. In 2001 I joined the growing Kentwood City Properties office in Lower Downtown Denver and began focusing on central Denver’s expanding loft, condominium, and single-family home markets.
Although I am comfortable just about anywhere in the Denver Metro area, I sell primarily in the central Denver area - neighborhoods such as LoDo, Capitol Hill, Cherry Creek, Congress Park, Washington Park, and Cheesman Park to name a few. I am also comfortable in all price ranges, from the Capitol Hill condo and studio market on up to the multi-million dollar market of Riverfront Park and Downtown Denver. My business is evenly split between buyers and sellers, and also split between those buying their first place and my long-time clients moving up to their 4th or 5th home! Being a native to the Denver area also comes in handy when helping buyers moving to Denver from other cities - I am able to provide a broad perspective of the city and all its options, housing and otherwise!
When I am not selling real estate I am usually either singing with or helping manage the business of Kantorei, a non-profit organization and semi-professional choir I started with my high school friends at about the same time I started selling real estate. I spend quite a bit of time with Sean, my partner of 6 years, taking care of our dog and house located in Denver’s Sloans Lake neighborhood west of downtown. And whenever possible I try to get out on the ski slopes, the golf course, or the tennis court to keep my skills for those sports in check!
