Rising interest rates are a worry in the UK and in Spain. The Spanish economy is very weak and has become heavily dependent upon property as s drive of the economy. The worldwide property down turn ahs hit Spain particularly hard. Its main problem is that it could really do with allowing its currency to float to make its exports cheaper. However, as it is a member the Euro it no longer has control over interest rates as these are set by Brussels. The Euro rate is set at a rate we feel that takes into account France and Germany' economic interests and not that of Spain. These countries’ economies and much stronger than Spain and may soon be pushing for interest rate rises
