City living in northwest Denver has its perks! I can’t say enough how much my dogs try to tell me: “We absolutely love living near the Berkeley Dog Park.” Well, let’s just say they know the meaning of “Park!”
After being cooped up inside all day, wouldn’t you want to run wild and free on 2 acres? Yes, this is one of seven off leash dog parks
in the Denver area paid for and maintained by the city of Denver. The Berkeley dog park is located in Berkeley Park which is in the Berkeley Neighborhood in Northwest Denver. This park is located just northwest of Tennyson Street,to be exact; it is off of Sheridan and west 46th.
This is a fenced park, so not to worry, your pooch will be off and running but will be stopped by the fence. There are trash bags and barrels, a few shade trees, plenty of dirt and grass and most of the time plenty of other dogs for your dog to interact with. If it is a warm day, bring a water bowl to fill up for you dog. There is a water source located near the front entrance to the dog park.
The Berkeley dog park which was established in 2004 in a pilot effort to test the usage has survived and is going strong. The Berkeley neighborhood has seen many new residents move in and with them, their dogs.
Denver is a very dog friendly city and more often then not it seems that your neighbors now have at least one animal. Many say that dogs keep us living longer… they definitely bring lots of love. Especially after a day at the dog park, you’ll have them at your heels thanking you!
Open year round. To get to the park, enter on 46th avenue near the recreation center. There is plenty of parking. We’ll see you at the Park!
