Lowry Vista Scandal

by Larry Hotz, All Denver Real Estate

A proposed 80-acre park at Lowry in Denver was sold to a private development company for only $10 when the City expressed concerns about dangerous pollution at the former Air Force base landfill.

Lowry Vista is located in the former Lowry Air Force Base which is now a thriving residential "new town" with homes, condo, shops and open spaces in the heart of Denver itself. But, this parcel has a checkered history including the dumping of chemical and possibly radioactive waste.

Denver Weather

By Larry Hotz

Denver weather isn’t what most people expect.

As I write this now the temperature on March 1 is 74 degrees and the skies are sunny. It’s the kind of weather you expect in Scottsdale this time of year.

I passed crowds at Washington Park this morning enjoying the "lakes", views and some volleyball. Even the golf courses have the die hards smacking the little white ball off  brown fairway grass. But, some of the greens actually are greenish. These photos were taken today.

In my 30 years of selling homes to relocation buyers, the biggest misconception I find is about our weather. Our temperatures are really moderate.

Cool-fax Avenue

by Elizabeth Hotz, First-Time Buyer’s Agent

If you thought Denver was an old West cow town, think again. In the past 10 years, Denver’s been taking strides to become the budding metropolis that it is today. And, as a result, we can now boast dining, entertainment, shopping and adventure that rival (or at least resemble) those of Boston and Chicago. Any Denver guidebook will direct you to the bustling downtown area known for these hallmarks and fondly named LoDo (for Lower Downtown). Although LoDo has traditionally been the hot spot for tourists and residents alike, allow me to introduce you to LoDo’s hipper, alternative, and more “in the flow” brother, Colfax.

Playboy Magazine once called Colfax was “the longest, wickeest street in America.”
